RE: RIP - RVSnowBird

How tragic. He was always in my corner helping me find just the right people to talk to or threads to join. He was one of a kind. I know we will all miss him and my prayers are with his family. Dee

RE: Campground Directories

Do you check the "bathroom" ratings and rely on those? Would you go to a campground that didn't have a good bathroom cleanliness rating? Dee

Campground Directories

I'm writing an article about campground directories and wanted to get a consensus about what makes a campground directory useful and how often you use one. If I think what you've written could be useful as a quote in my article, I will private e-mail you and ask your permission to use it in print. I will NOT print your name/comment without your permission. Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

Here is a good story for you. Ordered one directory and received two in the mail last week. Guess what, two more came by mail today. Now I will have to find someone to give them to. Only sent a check for one. Don I think I'd head to Las Vegas! Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

If you owned a magazine or book that made its living off the people you describe, would you emblish the truth? No, I actually don't think I would. I couldn't stand people showing up and being disappointed. I think that's where honest assessments made by campers/RVers are needed. So keep those comments coming to whatever URL you trust. Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

OK, many of you are saying that photos really help you decide about whether or not to visit a campground. Have any of you taken any of the "virtual" tours available at tldirectory.com? Not many of the parks have them set up yet, but wondered if you think they help or do you think those are manipulated, too? Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

Dee, that "fully wrapped" TL directory Marty has on the shelf is the one from when we had lunch a couple years ago. :R - I guess he never opened it to see just what is in the book! :h But then you have to remember he was a "newly wed" then. :B Well, there are priorities!!! You're still doing a good job with the forum, Dick. Give my regards to the wife. Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

With this in mind, it would be nice of this book, would show state parks etc. The one book I did like, was the NW campgrounds book. ALL 1400+ public owned and private campgrounds, that folks that had been there, and if no one had been there, it was not rated nor listed as a place to camp in Wa and OR. It included pay for and freebee federal places too! marty You certainly don't want to drag around a book you don't use -- but I just looked in the TL Directory and there are public and national and state parks listed. Of course, if you only stay at those, then a smaller state park/national park book would be easier for you to use. When I need information about a state park, I usually go to their state website and most states have a wonderful listing of all their parks. Dee

Thanks, RVman/John, I'll give it a look. I hope that campground owners actually read these things so they know what their customers think of them. Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

I personally have never knew that their website could be used to leave a rating system, but I will go and check it out now. I always use TL Directory and always go wherever the highest marks are. Woodalls is to hard to use I find. There's a place on the TL Directory website that gives you an opportunity to give your own TL-type rating and then make a comment if you wish. I was just wondering if anyone had found it helpful. Give it a check! Dee

RE: TL Directory campground comments

Never knew it existed. Most folks on this forum tend to use one or both of these sites or come here and ask questions. Campground Report RV Park Review Looking for something to add to your article - consider this... Campground Owners -- put pictures of your campsites on your websites and please make them a good size and include lots of them - not just 1 or 2. I can tell in 5 seconds whether we will stay somewhere if I can see the campsites. Nice size campsites and well kept grounds shows pride of ownership and thus a place we would probably visit. Lucy I agree about the photos. I think one of the things TL Directory is trying to do is have virtual tours for the campgrounds. You can get a 360-degree look see at the park. Dee

Forgot to mention the "retirement." I'm actually working quite a bit -- just in my own condo and in my own time. Still have some ties with Good Sam. Dee

TL Directory campground comments

Does anyone rely on the comments that campers post on the TL Directory website? Anyone visiting a campground can leave a rating on the website and some of the comments are very interesting. Some are excellent and others seem to tell more than the campground owner would like the world to know. Do you ever read those and use them to pick your campground? If not that, what do you use to choose your campground? Dee

RE: Kids favorite camping activity

This is a great list of things kids like to do. I was amazed that most of it didn't cost much money. Not many mentioned an expensive campground playground or mini golf. With bike riding, do they just ride in the road? Do you stay at campgrounds that have special places for the kids to ride? Dee
